Engineered Systems, Inc. has a state-of-the-art training facility in Duncan, SC with spacious and comfortable classroom space. We also have an electrical training room where you can learn to troubleshoot cranes and hoist, program inverters, and read electrical diagrams.

Brian Payne currently serves as the Director of Training for Engineered Systems, Inc. He has been employed with Engineered Systems for 16 years and brings to the classroom experience as a field maintenance technician, Branch Service Manager, and Director of Maintenance Services. During his time in the material handling industry, Brian has worked on equipment installations, equipment modernizations, technical support, crane and hoist inspections and testing, and crane and hoist operation. Brian has developed training courses for Fall Prevention and Protection, Overhead Crane and Hoist Operator Training, Overhead Crane and Hoist Maintenance and Inspection Training, and Rigging/Signalperson Training. Brian has also served as a volunteer firefighter and has certification in OSHA Firefighter, Firefighter 1 and 2, Interior Structural Firefighting, and LP Gas Firefighting.
Lenora Cuddy currently serves as the safety/training director for Engineered Systems, Inc. located in Duncan, SC. Lenora has worked in both construction and general industry for over 25 years. Lenora is a former safety professional from E.I. DuPont, where she underwent intensive training in safety management from one of the world leaders. She is currently authorized as an OSHA outreach trainer and finished her Process Safety Management training at Georgia Tech, in Atlanta, GA, in March 2010. Lenora is proficient in the areas of both construction and general industry safety standards. Lenora has served as disaster captain for the American Red Cross and was part of the lead team during the 9-11 crisis. Lenora has been nominated twice for the Clara Barton National Award, to recognize her achievements while serving as Disaster Captain. Lenora spent three years serving on the board of directors for the local chapter of the American Red Cross. Lenora’s affiliations include the AMA, ADA, ARC, OSHA, ASME, ANSI and NFPA.
Ray Smerdon currently serves as a Corporate Trainer for Engineered Systems. Ray has been employed with Engineered Systems for twenty years and brings experience as an Overhead Crane and Hoist Technician, Inspector, and Installer. Ray has held various roles at Engineered Systems including Inspector, Technician, Installer, Site Manager, and Territory Service Manager. Prior to Engineered Systems, Ray worked for seven years in power line construction. Ray also has experience in Heavy Equipment Operation.
